Join the Gideon Pond Elementary gardening committee and our popular speaker, Joel Karsten, the author of best selling "Straw Bale Gardens," on Monday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Gideon Pond Media Center (library). This is your opportunity to learn about this revolutionary gardening method.
Pond students will celebrate Spirit Week during Feb. 22-26. We'll be showing our school spirit with a number of "I Love to Read" month activities. Plus, students can celebrate with the following dress up days:
This February, celebrate reading with Gideon Pond Elementary and "I Love to Read" month. This year's theme is "Leaping into a Year of Reading at Pond!"
Students and staff will be taking part in fun reading activities all month long, including:
- Book reviews
- Frog-themed punch cars to track reading
- Reading goals for each class and prizes
- Celebrity readers, including Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz and Superintendent Joe Gothard
- And much more!

Strong instructional strategies and a schoolwide focus on student success are evident at Gideon Pond Elementary School in Burnsville, according to Commissioner Brenda Cassellius of the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) who visited the school on Jan. 5.
