BHS teacher is candidate for Minnesota Teacher of the Year

Burnsville High School teacher Mark Riggs is among 123 candidates to be the 2015 Minnesota Teacher of the Year.

Riggs was selected last spring as the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 Teacher of the Year. He is a graduate of Burnsville High School who now teaches physical education and health at the school, advises the Student Council and coaches multiple sports.

#BurnsvilleStrong Night at girls basketball game tonight

On Tuesday, Jan. 27, the Blaze Girls Basketball team will be home against Eastview. The junior varsity game begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m. Anyone wearing #BurnsvilleStrong apparel gets in free! There will also be a $5 raffle to raise funds for #BurnsvilleStrong and the Eastview Athletic Community's "Play for Patrick" initiative, which resulted from the unexpected loss of one of its young hockey players.
