No threat at BHS after police response

Police confirmed that there was no threat and no immediate risk to the public after responding to a report at Burnsville High School during a community event on Saturday, June 1.

Several police vehicles responded to the school after receiving a report that weapons were seen inside a vehicle. Officers found a rifle along with “airsoft” style guns in the vehicle of someone who was at the school from out of town for a basketball event with an organization renting BHS facilities.

Firearms are prohibited at all times on school property and possessing one while on school grounds can result in a felony. District 191 appreciates the visitors who made the report and support maintaining a safe environment for all who visit our schools.

Questions should be directed to the Burnsville Police Department.
