BHS lifters win second straight state title

The Burnsville High School powerlifting teams dominated the state championship meet for the second year straight, with the boys team repeating as champions and the girls team repeating their second-place performance.

More than 100 athletes from 20 schools competed in the March event, held at Rockford High School.

In addition, five BHS students took home individual championships — Tianna Frelix, Lauren Jensen, Megan Tomas, Sam Heino and Kyle Kisch — six athletes earned second place finishes — Gabby Lacher, Marcus Delius, Lucas Volk, Dylan Hughes, Alec Johnson and Jordan Discher — and one placed third —Sam Stanek.

The BHS powerlifting team is in just its second year of existence, coached by Justin Lerfald.
