The Blaze Burger is back, along with the partnership between Burnsville High School DECA and Burger Jones. The specialty burger will be available at the Burnsville Burger Jones throughout October, and for each one sold, DECA will earn $1. All proceeds go towards DECA student scholarships.
The burger's bun includes the Blaze branding, designed by DECA students, and features pepper-jack cheese, bacon, egg, peanut butter, hot sauce, jalapeños, and includes fries. Blaze Burger ingredients can be modified to suit personal taste. DECA receives proceeds when a Blaze Burger is ordered or through donation at Burger Jones.
DECA students' goal is to sell 500 burgers.
“Students are working to promote the Blaze Burger in various ways,” said DECA member and BHS senior Betty Gebrahanna, explaining how the partnership is a learning experience for those students interested in business, entrepreneurship and marketing pathways. “We are connecting with the mayor, local businesses, understanding who to contact regarding promotions, and getting hands on experience with business promotion. Networking is one of the great benefits we get from DECA.”
Students, teachers and community members are encouraged to take a picture with their Blaze burger and tag @BurnsvilleDECA on Twitter and Facebook.
DECA's mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Burnsville DECA students regularly qualify for state and national competitions.
