2018 Senior Profile: Chris Fuentes

What's one memory of high school you'll take with you?
One of the memories I will take with me is the one of meeting Dr. Funston and Dr. Gothard while presenting my 11th grade Inver Hills speech. I was astonished by their kindness and how much suport they showed to me. While Dr. Gothard was always attentive while also giving me feedback on what I seemed interested in such as history and language arts where he was amazed with the amount of focus I put into those two areas.

Who was a favorite teacher or staff member & why?
My favorite teacher is Jennifer Waller because her support and encouragement to achieve my goals. I cannot overstate how her support has helped me overcome some of the fears I had as well as how she is willing and able to talk about anything that may be a problem or bothering me. She has been a great support to me and helped me become a better person.

What are your plans for after graduation?
After graduation I plan to attend Hamline University and get a Bacherlor's degree even though I am still uncertain on which part of the social sciences aspect I would like to attend. Apart from that I will also be working while in college to minimize as much as possible any debt that may come my way during college.

What was the most difficult challenge you faced in high school?
My most difficult challenge while in high school would have to be the language barrier that chased me for so long while I was trying to improve my English, yet all of my hard work at first seemed trivial and downright useless at times. With time and a lot of support from my teachers I was able to overcome my fear of speaking publicly and to be less afraid of my accent that is still present in my speech to this date.
