Students in grades 6-8 from Eagle Ridge, Metcalf and Nicollet Middle Schools will be part of a modern dance concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 2, in the Mraz Center at Burnsville High School, 600 E. Highway 13.
The students have been part of an eight-week program working with professional teaching artists to create two pieces for the performance.
This event is made possible by the Modern Dance Project, a partnership that includes the Youth Dance Ensemble, the Burnsville Youth Collaborative and Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 Community Education.
The goal is to give middle school students a chance to participate in dance as an art form regardless of financial barriers. There is no cost to students who participate.
“This is our fourth year of this project and it is really something special!,” said Christian Kibler, coordinator of the Burnsville Youth Collaborative. “These girls and boys have worked very hard on these dances and their performance will be impressive.”
Students from other school districts will also be part of this “pay-as-you-are-able” concert. For more information call 952-941-5771 or visit www.ydeschool.com.
