
Broadway musical, “The Music Man,” opens Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Mraz Center for the Performing Arts at Burnsville High School, located at 600 E. Hwy 13.
Based on the story by Meredith Willson and Franklin Lacey, the production follows Harold Hill, a traveling con man who arrives in River City, Iowa, and convinces the locals to start a band by purchasing the uniforms and instruments from him. His intention is to flee as soon as he receives the money but factors are complicating his plan. The cast is led by Daniel Akah as music man Harold Hill and Maddie Stuart as librarian Marion Paroo.
Directed by Amy Stead, performances run Nov. 9-11 and 16-18 at 7 p.m. There is also a matinee on Nov. 11 at 2:30 p.m.
Senior citizens are invited to a free performance at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8 in the Mraz Center.
