Eagle Ridge Middle School students will be able to pick up their Chromebooks at orientation on Aug. 24 from noon to 8 p.m., as District 191 expands its 1-to-1 personal learning device program to include grades 6-8 as part of Vision One91.
Middle school students will be getting the same model of Chromebook that high school students received last school year. They are lightweight, inexpensive devices that provide students access to the internet, their Google accounts and other web-based applications. The model being purchased includes a touch-screen along with a keyboard so it also acts as a tablet.
Students will also be able to pick up their class schedules, planners and locker information, as well as purchase phy.ed. Shirts, set up ParentVUE accounts, and drop off vaccination records, sports physicals and any other forms.
Eagle Ridge open house is slated for Wednesday, Aug. 30, with sixth graders invited from 4-6 p.m., and 7th and 8th graders from 6-8 p.m. At open house, students will be able to walk to all their classes and meet their teachers. They will also be able to practice opening their lockers and get their materials organized for the first day.
