The Burnsville High School Quiz Bowl team placed fourth in the Minnesota High School Quiz Bowl League Championship Thursday, March 2 at Burnsville High School.
The league championship is limited to only the top 16 schools in the state, four schools from four divisions. Burnsville was the top seed in the South Division.
At the tournament, Burnsville A easily defeated fourth-seeded Mounds Westonka and second-seeded St. Paul Academy. The team went on to face fourth-seeded St. Thomas Academy but lost, placing them in the lower bracket of the double elimination tournament where they had to face St. Paul Academy again. Defeating and ultimately eliminating St. Paul Academy, Burnsville was pitted against but lost to Mounds Park Academy. The team went on to face Eden Prairie A, defeating them and taking fourth place.
This was the second straight year of placing fourth for BHS, with 139 teams participating in the league tournament.
Senior Blake Andert was the third overall scorer in the South Division and 13th overall in the competition, which featured more than 700 students competing. Burnsville had another five students place in the top 100:

Burnsville teams B, C, D, E and F also competed. Burnsville B was 8-4 overall, placing 26; Burnsville C was 7-5, placing 42; Burnsville D was 6-6, placing 61; Burnsville E was 5-7, placing 95; and Burnsville F was 4-8, placing 111.
Burnsville High School will host the Minnesota State Championship on Saturday, March 18. Burnsville A and B teams are slated to compete.
Participation in this event is open to any team of up to six players that wants to register.
