Parents of 5th grade students at Vista View, Gideon Pond, Sky Oaks and Edward Neill Elementary Schools are encouraged to attend a meeting about registration for 6th grade classes at Nicollet Middle School. The meeting will be on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 6 pm at Nicollet Middle School in the cafeteria. Nicollet is located at 400 East 134th Street in Burnsville.
Nicollet Principal Renee Brandner will present information about registration for 6th grade and take time to answer questions from parents. The District 191 Secondary Schools Course Catalog, which includes information about middle school courses, is available at www.isd191.org/coursecatalog.
A parent information meeting about the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program at Nicollet will follow immediately after the registration meeting, starting at 7 pm on Jan. 26. The AVID meeting will be for parents of 5th grade students who want to get more information about the AVID program at Nicollet.
The Nicollet Guidance Counselors and AVID Coordinator will be visiting 5th grade classrooms on Wednesday, Jan. 25. Nicollet staff will distribute registration materials and will provide specific information about middle school courses and answer questions from students. Course registration forms MUST be signed by a parent and turned in to your child's 5th grade teacher by Friday, Feb. 3.
The meetings at Nicollet were initially scheduled for Jan. 19 and were changed to Jan. 26 so families can attend the District 191 Discover Diamondhead event from 5-7 pm on Jan.19 at Diamondhead Education Center.
