Burnsville High School will be hosting an Evening of One Acts at 6:30 p.m. on Jan 20-21 in the Mraz Center for the Performing Arts, located at 600 E. Highway 13.
Tickets will be available at the door for $5. There will be five productions on Friday and seven productions on Saturday, with both high school and junior high performances each night.
The high school performances are directed by Marie Hansen and Amy Stead, whose student-created one-act play will be performed several times during the school day on Jan. 19 for their peers. The one-act play is based on author Chris Crutcher's short story.
The following is the list of middle school shows:
- "How I Proposed to Your Mom" (Directed by Steve Orth, Metcalf Middle School)
- "Check Please" (Directed by Anne Bakken, Nicollet Middle School)
- "Rapunzel Uncut" (Directed by Jacquelyn Parkinson, Eagle Ridge Middle School)
Each year the Minnesota State High School League hosts a competition for One Act plays. Each submitting entry to the competition features up to eight players in a 30-minute act, with supporting help from student technicians.
Preliminary competition starts January with the state competition slated for February.
