Burnsville DECA hosted this year's fall blood drive, called Life Illuminated Blood Drive, on Tuesday, Nov. 29 in the new activity center at Burnsville High School.
DECA students Joseph Koski, Ally Saba and Callie Gudmonson led the charge on this event; though, all of the DECA chapter members participated in some way, either as a volunteer or by donating blood.
This event was made possible by DECA's partnership with Firefly Credit Union Community Cares group and the Memorial Blood Centers. With over 200 students and staff donating, the blood drive was Memorial Blood Center's biggest school blood drive to date! (See the Blood Drive Slideshow here!)
Food for the event was graciously provided by Chipotle Mexican Grill, which donated 150 burritos, chips, salsa, sour cream and guacamole, and Firefly Credit Union covered the cost of bagels from Panera Bread Company.
"I can't take any credit from yesterday's event," said DECA advisor and business teacher Meggan Malone. "The students were fantastic! They held meetings every other week with Firefly Credit Union Community Cares group and Memorial Blood Centers to plan the details of the event. These students were responsible for the entire event from set-up to event implementation."
Thank you to Firefly Credit Union, Memorial Blood Centers, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Panera Bread Company and, of course, student and staff donors!
