Trang Truong made history at Burnsville High School this year with two extraordinary accomplishments.
First, as an 11th grade student last year, Trang aced a major national test by earning a perfect score of 1520 on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT). That alone is amazing, but then Trang earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT Composite, another national college admissions exam.
“Your achievement on the ACT is significant and rare,” wrote ACT Chief Executive Officer Marten Roorda in a letter to Trang. Generally, only one-tenth of 1% of students who take the ACT earn the top score.
The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. Each test is scored on a scale of 1–36, and a student's composite score is the average of the four test scores.
“Congratulations to Trang on his achievements,” said Principal Dave Helke. “We are very proud of what he has accomplished with perfect scores on two major nationwide college admissions exams. Trang is a remarkable student.”
