Leaders, athletes, champions to join BHS Hall of Fame

The newest members to be inducted into the Burnsville High School Hall of Fame include leaders in their professional fields, standout student athletes and two championship teams.

The induction ceremony for new members will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7 at the Mraz Center for Performing Arts, located at 600 E. Hwy 13. A reception in their honor will take place at 4:30 p.m., and they will be introduced during halftime of the football game that evening in Pates Stadium.

“This group represents the impressive breadth of success achieved by members of the Burnsville High School community, both while in school and beyond,” according to Principal Dave Helke. “We are proud of this year’s inductees and pleased to highlight their accomplishments as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Burnsville High School.”

The Hall of Fame Committee has selected the following for induction into the Burnsville High School Hall of Fame:

  • Kirby Dennis (Class of 1996)

  • Annette Kuz (Class of 1980)

  • Brad MacDonald (Class of 1989)

  • Karen Schaefer Ruth (Class of 1979)

  • Deanna Thompson (Class of 1985)

  • Don Timm (Class of 1967)

  • The 1985 Boys Hockey Team

  • The 1985 Boys Swim Team

"The Hall of Fame honorees serve as an example of the quality education that BHS has fostered over the years and continues to provide and they serve as role models for current students and staff to achieve their own success," according to Helke. “They have made significant contributions to their community on a school, local, state, national or international level.”

The BHS Hall of Fame was established in 2006 as part of the school's 50th anniversary celebration. It is a way to recognize those who have made exceptional achievements in their field, significant contributions to Burnsville High School and unique contributions to their community on a local, state, national or international level. So far, 74 individuals and teams have been named to the Hall of Fame. For more information, visit http://www.isd191.org/halloffame.
