Blaze boys hockey team continues 'Trek to the X'

The Burnsville boys hockey team earned their first state berth since 2007 in last night 7-1 win against top-seeded St. Thomas Academy at Ridder Arena, clinching the Section 3AA title. 
 
Head coach Janne Kivihalme and the Blaze team are riding an eight-game winning streak into state, which is March 3-5 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Brackets will be posted Feb. 27 and can be viewed at www.mshsl.org.
 
The BHS Athletics Department will have a limited number of tickets available for pre-sale. The first game will be on Thursday, March 3 with the time to be determined on Saturday. Tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Monday.
 
Additionally, the school store will be selling hockey jerseys, section championship t-shirts and Rink Rat t-shirts. Stop by to get your hockey apparel! The store will have extended hours and will be open on Tuesday, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (regular hours) and 5-7 p.m., and on Wednesday, March 2 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
