Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 is joining the city of Burnsville in encouraging drivers to be safe and drive phone-free after the city officially declared Thursday, Dec. 10 as “Burnsville It Can Wait Day.”
The “It Can Wait” campaign asks drivers to pledge not to text or talk on the phone while driving, and asks passengers to speak out if the driver of their car is distracted. Everyone is asked to encourage their friends and family to drive phone-free.
“Whether our students drive or serve as responsible passengers, It Can Wait Day serves as an important reminder to keep all of us safe on our roads,” said Superintendent Joe Gothard.
The city’s official proclamation can be found online at www.burnsville.org.
Drivers can find resources, including mobile apps that silence their phones while driving, and more information online at www.itcanwait.com.
