Burnsville High School kicked off the new school year with a boisterous pep fest for sophomores on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Designed for sophomores only, the day began with students attending their first period class and greeting the teacher, and then filing into the gymnasium to the beat of drums. Student council got the crowd buzzing with excitement for upcoming homecoming events, and the Blazettes and Drumline showcased their outstanding talents with a performance.
Students went through a shortened version of their schedule and were then split into groups for lunch, team building activities, a student Q&A, skits in the Mraz Center, an introduction to school technology and a final pep fest to end the day.
The day was focused on getting to know students, introducing them to the various ways they can get involved at school and providing a positive environment for everyone.
With juniors and seniors returning on Wednesday, Sept. 9, and learning getting underway, it's the goal of BHS teachers to help all students succeed and prepare them for their future.
