Do you want to be part of an exciting team that makes ceramic bowls, teaches others and raises money to feed hungry children in our school district? It's a great way to volunteer! Attend the informational meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 2:30 pm in H108 or see Mr. Hammes.
Bowls for BrainPower is a community fundraiser for people to make a free-will donation to our hunger cause and receive a beautiful, hand-made pottery bowl and a meal of soup and bread! The bowl goes home as reminder that some people face an "empty bowl" all too frequently. Proceeds from Empty Bowls events always go to a hunger cause, and ours go to buy food for children in ISD 191 (Burnsville-Eagan-Savage) through BrainPower in a BackPack.
Empty Bowls started in 1990 with students and an art teacher searching for a way to make a difference by serving in their community. Together they came up with the idea to make clay bowls, serve a simple soup and bread meal, and let participants keep the bowl as a reminder that many people frequently have too little to eat. From that humble beginning in a single school, the idea has spread across the nation and around the world and now each year millions of dollars are raised to fight hunger through Empty Bowls events. Small actions, like making a bowl, CAN make a BIG difference.
