Jennie Bordonaro, a behavior interventionist and assessment coach at Vista View Elementary School in Burnsville, is featured this month by World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA), a national organization that supports teachers who work with English language learners.
Bordonaro’s previous work co-teaching with ELL teacher Mindi Limberg is highlighted in the article, as well as work she’s done with other Vista View teachers in supporting refugee families who recently moved to the area.
In the article, Bordonaro notes the importance of understanding the full context of a student’s life when it comes to teaching. Whether a language barrier or another challenge is present, a student may struggle in ways that aren’t obviously attached to that challenge, she says. But by asking the right questions, teachers can be more successful in reaching all their students.
